Asked:
What is your best client success story?
Here
is what you told us...
Mighty Joe Polk, as we
call him, was born with arthrogryposis, an extreme case of congenital
joint contractures. His legs, arms and fingers were so twisted and
hardened that he looked like a pretzel. Doctors advised surgery,
saying his arms would still be paralyzed. Fortunately, his parents
sought out craniosacral therapy, and I was blessed to work with
Joe at the Upledger Institute with other talented therapists. The
softening in his tissues and limbs was amazing to witness. Joe is
now nearly 3 years old. He can feed himself, climb a ladder and
cut with scissors, and his doctors no longer advise surgery.

An elderly man came into my massage
establishment, hunched over and barely able to walk. He told me,
"No, I don't have osteoporosis. I am just in so much pain."
I worked on him for almost an hour and he got off my table and said,
"Wow, it is a miracle. I can walk again and I have no pain!
You certainly are the miracle-cure woman." It was a very enlightening
day.

I perform hot-stone massage on fibromyalgia
clients, which has proven to be amazing. A daughter made her mother
an appointment because her mother was in constant pain and hadn't
slept for more than an hour at a time in the past five years. She
had withdrawn from her daughter and her grandchildren due to the
pain. The day following her mother's session, the daughter called
me, crying, and said, "You have no idea what you have done
for my mother and for our family. My mother slept eight hours straight
when she got home. She also ate dinner with us that evening and
took her granddaughter home to spend the night. I felt I got my
mom back." She thanked me over and over. But it was I who was
thankful to have helped and been part of this wonderful experience.

One day I got a call from a lady who
had fallen while letting her dog out for a walk. She complained
of pain between her shoulder blades and in her upper arms. I gave
her a tui-na massage session. Two days later she called to let me
know that the pain had disappeared the next day.

I had just completed my craniosacral
I class when I had a client come in with vertigo so bad that she
couldn't live alone or work. I saw her twice a week for an hour
and a half each time. After a month and a half, she had improved
dramatically. Her episodes were few and far between, and the intensity
went from full-on spinning vision to slight 'shifting' that would
stop almost as soon as it started. I felt incredibly blessed to
have had that client at that exact time, to learn the benefits of
the technique I had just learned.

One day each week I visit our local
extended-care facility and have a massage session with a young man
who is in an extreme stage of multiple sclerosis. These sessions
usually last for about one and a half hours with me doing all the
rolling, moving and positioning of the patient. My experience is
that there are two successes that take place: 1) He tells me he
looks forward each week to the one time where positive touch is
applied, the relaxation he accomplishes, and feeling his body again;
and 2) I experience personal growth and a feeling of gratitude from
the sessions.
