Asked: What
kind of energy work do you include in your sessions, and how does
energy work enhance your sessions?
Here
is what you told us...
In addition to manual massage-therapy
techniques, I include reiki energy work in my massage sessions and
have found it to be extremely valuable. In instances where a client
requests deeper manual work into a specific muscle but cannot tolerate
even a medium level of pressure, I switch to reiki, which has helped
in many cases to alleviate the pain. In those cases, I can then
proceed with manual massage techniques, which I would not have been
able to use without reiki. I've also encountered clients that have
felt so much relief from the energy that they have requested that
I continue with reiki only for the entire massage session. Reiki
is an unpredictable technique and does not always help as I'd like
it to, but I will always give it a fair attempt since it also works
at levels that are not obvious to me or to the client.

Both reiki and CranioSacral Therapy
can be integrated into massage therapy at my clinic. My practitioners
and I have seen the great benefits of integrating energy work into
therapy sessions. Some clients, such as fibromyalgia sufferers,
cannot handle many of the more aggressive hands-on techniques involved
with massage. This is where energy work comes in, and adds both
healing and balancing properties to many sessions. Clients often
comment that they feel more relaxed and at peace during sessions
that involve energy work.

Energy work plays a very important
role in my massage therapy. I primarily use reiki to begin and end
my massage session. Reiki is also my way of asking for guidance
from "the supreme being" before I lay my hands on a client.
Most recently I have included spinal touch, which is another technique
that involves a lot of energy work, with my massage.

Just as there are many different modalities
in massage, such as deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy, myofascial
release, craniosacral, Swedish. There are several ways to perform
or focus energy and vibration. I have had the pleasure of learning
many of the different types of energy and vibration work and tend
to incorporate them as needed. [In session] I feel the client and
regulate my energy and vibration based off feedback from the client's
energy and vibration. How is this a benefit in a session? [Developer
of CranioSacral Therapy] John Upledger, D.O., once described CranioSacral
Therapy as having an element of helping restore the vibrational
balance to bones of the cranium. I feel that by being able to do
the craniosacral work and utilize energy and vibration, the client
receives a greater benefit. When doing myofascial release, the ability
to generate hot energy aids in a more efficient release. Eric Dalton's
muscle melting is greatly increased by the use of energy and vibration.
The largest benefit I have found utilizing energy and vibration
is the faith the client has in me. There is a presence established
by which the energetic bodies recognize one another and decide who
is safe and who is not.
