Asked: What is your best client success story?
Here
is what you told us...
A client was suffering from low-back dysfunction; he suffers with degenerative discs of the lower lumbar [area]. I had been seeing this client’s wife for about a year when she referred him to me. After assessing him and putting a plan together of deep-tissue massage, myofascial release and manual traction, he is [performing] at 95 percent of his normal activities. My client is happy to be playing tennis again and living his life.

The best success story I have [deals with] the injury-massage work I provided on the U.S. Marines’ wounded warriors out of Camp Lejuene in North Carolina. When I first started this work, I didn’t know what to expect. But after working with a few of the Marines and talking with them regarding their injuries and what I could do to help them manage their pain, it was something I knew I wanted to continue. I live in Rhode Island, but travel to North Carolina three to four times a year to work with these Marines. When I [am there], they are very excited to receive the massage work I provide them.

My client began seeing me once per month for one-hour massages in February 2005 to help alleviate muscle aches and fatigue from multiple sclerosis, [which she was] diagnosed with 10 years prior. She enjoyed immediate relief from symptoms. She now receives an hourly massage once per week, as it also gives her more energy for work as a teacher and mother. It also gives her added endurance for exercising as a runner. Once per month, she has a two-hour session for a boost to sustain her through the rest of the month.

I used to perform regular onsite massages for a friend before I moved for school. It took a couple of months for her to allow me to work with her, but I saw her biweekly for quite a while. When I moved, she told me there were no words to express her gratitude and how much I helped her. She had been raped many years ago and had issues regarding trust, touch and men. Also, she was self-conscious from gaining 100 pounds. I continue to work with her when I’m back in town.

After delivering 10 sessions to a middle-aged grandmother to help realign muscle tissue and improve shoulder mobility resulting from a dislocated shoulder manually reset by a client more than 25 years ago following a motorcycle accident, results included improved range of motion, initial scar tissue realignment, muscle re-education, improved body posture, increased anatomy awareness and the ability to perform yoga poses [that were] previously unattainable.
