Self-Care tip of the week

When you go away, really go away

Don’t touch a body therapeutically even once while on vacation. Don’t bring any books about massage. Don’t even talk about massage. Sometimes taking a complete breather like this is a way for you to regenerate quickly and come back with fresh excitement for your job. This drastic step isn’t always necessary, but it often helps if you feel yourself on the verge of burning out and want to avoid it.

-- from Massage Therapy Career Guide by Steve Capellini, Thomson Delmar Learning (2006)
