Self-Care tip of the week

Where’s the Fruit?

Researchers have found that less than half of all Americans are eating enough fruits and vegetables to gain the full nutritional benefits of these foods. In a study conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Cancer Institute, and reported in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, between 1999-2000 only 40 percent of the population met the then-current recommendation of consuming five or more servings of fruits and vegetables per day. The recommendations were increased in 2005, to 2 to 6 cups per day of fruits and vegetables.

Final word: Make fruit and vegetables a larger part of your daily diet and reap the nutritional rewards.
