Cortiva students’ business
training
The corporate owner of several U.S. massage schools
has partnered with an education company to provide online business
training to its students.
Cortiva Institute has purchased several well-established
massage schools, including the Chicago School of Massage Therapy,
the Brenneke School of Massage, the Pennsylvania School of Muscle
Therapy, the Brian Utting School of Massage and the Desert Institute
of the Healing Arts, and runs 11 campuses total, nationwide. Its
partnership is with eCornell, a company that was established, and
is owned by, Cornell University.
“Our courses are somewhat different than
most online courses,” said eCornell spokesperson Russ Pearo.
“They have a dedicated-subject-matter expert instructor that
is responsible for ensuring the students get an optimal learning
experience and can apply the material to real-life problems.”
The Cornell/Cortiva curriculum for currently
enrolled students includes courses in finance, communication, supervisory
skills and customer service. Students and alumni also have preferred
access to eCornell courses in marketing, leadership and strategic
management, financial management, human resources management, management
essentials, and hospitality and food-service management.
This multi-year agreement is designed to ensure
that Cortiva graduates have the necessary business and management
skills to complement their training in massage therapy and ensure
their success as career-minded employees, private practitioners
or small business owners, according to a press release.
