New Spa-Industry Guide Released
As the spa industry grows, so do employment opportunities for massage therapists. A new guide to the spa industry, released April. 5, provides a snapshot of this burgeoning business.
Spa revenue nationwide increased by 18 percent between April 2004 and August 2006, according to the International Spa Association, and there are almost 14,000 spas in the United States.
The Day Spa Association and The International Medical Spa Association's 2007-2008 Directory is an annual nationwide guide to day spas, medical spas, spa products and service companies.
This year's guide has been expanded to 80 pages due to a 25 percent increase in membership since the publication of 2006's edition, according to an association press release.
The guide lists member spas of both organizations, which share administration. It also lists spa-service providers and products.
New this year are editorials by the directory’s editor, Preethi Burkholder, on massage basics, spa etiquette, essentials of aromatherapy, major treatment options in day and medical spas, and business.
