Earthlite Buys Stronglite

Two well-established U.S. massage-equipment companies have joined forces.

Earthlite, a massage-table-and-equipment company, announced on Feb. 19 that it had purchased Stronglite Inc., a manufacturer of portable massage tables and equipment.

“Stronglite is a great company with a long history of making exceptional products," said Jim Chenevey, Earthlite CEO. [President and founder John] Lloyd has made great contributions to the innovation of massage- table construction and has deeded to us a great body of patents and intellectual property."

Earthlite, which began operations in 1987, hired Bruce Eatchel as Stronglite’s new president. Eatchel previously served as vice president of Bodywork Mall, the spa-equipment retailer. Stronglite, which has been in operation since 1986, has been relocated from Cottage Grove, Oregon, to Salt Lake City, Utah, effective Feb. 19. Two of Stronglite's 12 employees remain with the company.

Lloyd said that after many years of making massage tables, he and his wife, Laney, have decided to embark upon some new directions in their lives.

"We believe that Earthlite is uniquely qualified to contribute the leadership and resources necessary to build upon Stronglite’s legacy of quality and value," he added.
