posted: 11-29-07

The Nov. 23 issue of Science magazine includes an article on the First International Fascia Research Congress.

Science is an international weekly science journal, published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

The article by David Grimm is titled “Cell Biology Meets Rolfing: A diverse group of researchers wants to create a new discipline from scratch by bringing together experts in fascia and deep- tissue massage.”

"This conference (www.massagemag.com/News/2007/139/Fascia-Research-Congress-

). was a first venture within the field of the human fasciae to bring together scientists and clinicians," the article noted.

The article quoted Partap Khalsa, D.C., Ph.D., program officer with the U.S. National Institutes of Health National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine as stating, “You need people who can do good basic science and clinicians who can inform them about their experiences … It’s the only way to advance the field.”
