Massage Franchise Goes International
Posted: 11-05-07
Elements is just one of several massage-therapy franchises to crop up in the United States recent years. Now Elements is taking its business model beyond our borders, with the announcement of new locations opening in Costa Rica and Ireland.
The late-October announcement underscored the company's plan to open 400 locations by 2011 (www.massagemag.com/News/2006/January/Firm.php). The company has 50 locations sold in the United States.
Elements, along with other franchises including Massage Envy (www.massagemag.com/News/2007/131/Envy.php), Hand & Stone, Zen Massage and N8Touch, offer standardized massages and usually offer a reduced-rate membership to clients. Massage therapists who work at franchises are usually employees (www.massagemag.com/Students/News/2006/Franchise.php).
Elements was founded in 1999 by occupational and massage therapist Michele Merhib, and became part of the Fitness Together Franchise Corporation in 2006. Fitness Together personal training franchise locations throughout the world and over 500 scheduled to open, Elements is following the same model.
