MT Foundation Appoints Advisory Council
The Massage Therapy Foundation recently named its first-ever advisory council, which will function as a resource for the foundation’s 11-member board of trustees by sharing knowledge, experience and expertise on behalf of the massage therapy profession.
The Massage Therapy Foundation is a philanthropic organization that advances the knowledge and practice of massage therapy through scientific research, education, and community service.
Members are:
• Leon Chaitow, D.O., N.D., author of more than 70 books on health care, and editor in chief for the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies
• Aviad Haramati, Ph.D., professor for the departments of physiology and medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
• Janet R. Kahn, Ph.D., executive director of the Integrated Healthcare Policy Consortium, and director of research for the Massage Therapy Research Consortium.
• Robert King, one of the original founders and trustees of the Massage Therapy Foundation, and founder of the Chicago School of Massage Therapy.
• Clifford W. Korn, L.M.T., a partner at the Windham Health Center Neuromuscular Therapy and editor for Massage Today.
• Whitney Lowe, L.M.T., founder of the Orthopedic Massage Education & Research Institute, and author of Orthopedic Assessment in Massage Therapy and Orthopedic Massage: Theory and Technique.
• Jan Schwartz, vice president of education for Cortiva Institute, a massage-therapy education company.
• Leslie Young, Ph.D., editor in chief of Massage & Bodywork magazine and vice president of communication for Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals.
