Health and well-being tops June 19 agenda keynoted by Salamander Hospitality Founder and CEO Sheila Johnson
Washington, D.C. – May 16, 2012 – How has the recent economic downturn affected the spa industry? In turn, what impact has it had on the larger goal of the health and well-being of Americans? Industry experts will explore these and related topics during Washington Spa Alliance's 2nd Annual Symposium, titled "Spa & The New Economy," on June 19, 2012, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
Keynoted by Sheila Johnson, founder and CEO of Salamander Hospitality, the symposium features a roster of esteemed presenters including: Dr. Brent Bauer, director of Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program, Mayo Clinic; Kitty Bean Yancey, travel editor at USA Today; and the "godmother" of the spa industry, Deborah Szekely, founder and owner, Rancho La Puerta.
The day-long symposium is open to individuals and organizations whose missions align with the goal of promoting the physical, emotional and spiritualwell-being of our nation. It will also highlight current and relevant information on many of the major issues of the day. A schedule of sessions and speakers will be available on the organization's website at www.washingtonspaalliance.com.
The symposium aligns with Washington Spa Alliance's goal of leveraging the strength of the spa industry--with an estimated value of $12 billion a year--to make a more lasting contribution to the well-being of the nation. Washington Spa Alliance is a knowledge center, connecting spa professionals in the nation's greater capital region. The group works to promote the exchange of education and innovation in the field and to ensure the highest ideals of spas are met through policy and action.
