Article summary: Massage therapists can use postural analysis and photos to educate their clients, deliver their objective findings in a professional manner—and build their practices.

1. Obtain written permission to take photos.

2. Hang plumb line 3 feet in front of posture

chart.

3. Hang plumb bob approximately ¼-inch off the floor.

4. Instruct client to remove shoes and jacket, and place hair behind the ears.

5. Have client stand between the postural chart and the plumb line.

6. Anterior view: Place heels an equal distance from the plumb line and posture chart.

7. Lateral view: Position client, so the plumb line is immediately anterior to lateral malleolus.

8. Handle photos as confidential medical records.
