Olympic Journalists Received Massage, Too

Athletes received massage therapy at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, which concluded Sunday night—and the journalists reporting on their athletic feats did, too.

An article published on Feb. 26 in the Winnipeg Free Press noted, "There ought to be a special gold medal for the students of Vancouver's Utopia Academy.

"A rotating troop of registered massage therapists in training has spent the duration of the Olympics giving free 15 minute massages to journalists working in the Main Press Centre.

"The

service … has become a popular destination. At any point in the day a half-dozen journalists or so can be found perched face-down in a massage chair.

"'The word's out now,' says Laurie Baird, a Utopia instructor supervising the students. 'We've had a long as a 45-minute wait.'"
