Japanese researchers have found Anma therapy—a traditional style of Japanese massage—reduced muscle stiffness in the necks and shoulders of 50-year-old females. The massage was found to reduce anxiety levels as well.

The purpose of this pilot study was to clarify the physical and psychological effects of Anma

therapy, according to a report on www.pubmed.gov.

The study results were published in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies.
