Virginia, June 7, 2010--For more than 28 years, Susan Salvo has been one of the leading massage textbook authors and curriculum developers in the industry. Now, she has joined the advisory board of the American Pregnancy Massage Association (APMA) to advise on education and curriculum.

“As the APMA works toward establishing standards of pregnancy massage training, Susan’s expertise will be extremely valuable,” said Rick Morgan, APMA founder and president.

The APMA is working with the massage industry to develop a body of knowledge and educational training standards for pregnancy massage therapists. Salvo’s work and expertise provides a critical component to these important initiatives.

“I believe the APMA’s mission is important for the pregnancy massage field of practice. I am very pleased and excited to be a part of this journey.” said Salvo.

In addition to writing massage

textbooks and directing a massage school, Salvo has contributed to the National Certification Exam as a member of its test item writing committee. She participated with the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards as a member of its standard setting team. Salvo is one of the initial task force members of the Massage Therapy Body of Knowledge Project. Her book, Massage Therapy: Principles and Practice is used as the core massage text in massage schools nationwide. She is currently working on the book's fourth edition.
