The craigslist.org listings for adult and erotic services have long been a thorn in the side of professional massage therapists. Listings that advertised services such as "sensual massage" and "male-only massage" were, many believed, thinly veiled solicitations of clients for prostitution.
As of yesterday, though, the adult-services tab had been covered with a black bar containing the word "censored" in white lettering.
/>According to an article published Sept. 4 by The New York Times, "the action on Saturday follows a wave of criticism by law-enforcement officials and groups that oppose human trafficking, who have said that the ads on the adult section of Craigslist were facilitating prostitution and the selling of women against their will."
Whether those posting such listings migrate to another craigslist.org category remains to be read.

Craigslist has allowed and continues to allow adult/erotic services to be posted in the massage section. In some ways, this is worse because it mixes therapeutic massage with the old image of massage parlor. In fact, there are far more of these ads than legitimate massage ads on craigslist. Try contacting craigslist to report that the ads are illegal because the so-called therapists are not licensed. They do not respond.
