Every year, top salons and spas partake in an energizing two day conference learning from industry experts, networking with other salon and spa professionals, and an Award Night Gala celebration of the best of the best – the Repêchage Spa de Beauté of the Year Crystal Award of Excellence. This year’s 10th Annual Congress was attended by over 100 Salon and Spa Professionals and featured a panel of seven guest speakers that presented exciting industry trends as well as health and wellness programs. Through the donation of renewable energy credits from Green Mountain Energy Company, the 2-day conference was carbon neutral. Congress commenced with an informative and stimulating presentation by Lydia Sarfati, CEO and Founder of Repêchage®, who discussed the evolution and revolution of the “day spa” concept while demonstrating a Facial Bar Express Service. Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Dr. Hartmut Schneider, presented his more than 30 years of research on sleep and well-being. Dr. Schneider and his wife Regina, co-founded the first European Spa concept, integrating sleep with spa treatments as a holistic approach for improving the well-being of spa clientele. Shoshana Werber, registered dietitian, certified dietitian nutritionist, and founder of Werber Wellness – a private nutrition counseling service, discussed the “10 best super foods for healthy skin.” Director of Repêchage® Mexico and a pioneer of the spa concept and evolution in Mexico, Yolanda Amador Origel spoke about how spas can become a profit center. Susan Piso, Repêchage’s Director of Research and Development, spoke about the newest advancements in the cosmetic industry. BeGreen advocated the importance of reducing your spa or salon’s carbon footprint with an informative presentation by John Holtz, Director of Operations East Region for Green Mountain Energy Company. Lois Christie, founder and CEO of Christie & Co Salon & Spa in New York City and the first female president of Intercoiffure North America, demonstrated her newest signature treatment – “30 Minutes to Beauty.” As another successful Repêchage® International Congress came to an end, salon and spa professionals left not only motivated but also enthusiastic to improve and advance their own business while raising the bar for the spa industry overall. With the ability to learn from one another and working together, Repêchage® will continue to offer clients opportunities to increase their knowledge and provide them with the tools they need to achieve success! We look forward to seeing you at the 11th Annual International Congress which will be hosted on August 10-11 2009!
