Evanston, IL, May 17, 2011: The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) is proud to announce that it has been recognized by Association Media & Publishing (AM&P) for the excellence of its social media strategy and the Career Guidance area of its website. The association’s social media innovation, especially its approach as a nonprofit association to use of Facebook, is awarded a Gold EXCEL Award, while its website Career Guidance section received a Silver Award.
“We are excited that AMTA is again recognized among associations for the excellence of our media and publications,” says AMTA President Glenath E. Moyle. “It’s especially great to see how our innovations with new communications media are appreciated. These are tools we use to give our members the information and resources they need to be more successful.”
AM&P stated that both areas of AMTA’s communications “stood out from the rest as truly representing The Best and the Brightest in the association community.” AMTA’s approach to Facebook was viewed as innovative, as the association worked to use social media as a means of quick and personal responses to members. The Career Guidance section of www.amtamassage.org was developed in 2010 to give members access to a wide variety of resources, regardless of their current level of massage therapy experience.
The American Massage Therapy Association is the largest non-profit, professional association serving massage therapists, massage students and massage schools. The association is directed by volunteer leadership and fosters ongoing, direct member-involvement through its 51 chapters. AMTA works to advance the profession through ethics and standards, the promotion of fair and consistent licensing of massage therapists in all states, and public education on the benefits of massage.
