Evanston, IL – The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) is working with Energizer to help walkers at Breast Cancer 3-Day events across the country laugh, learn and relax as they take steps toward finding a cure for breast cancer. AMTA will be the official provider of massage therapists at the Energizer Live it Up! Lounge, where member volunteers will be providing walkers with 10-minute chair massages on both Friday and Saturday nights at events in 15 cities. The Breast Cancer 3-Day is a project of the National Philanthropic Trust, which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
“This is a heartfelt expression of the commitment of AMTA members to give back to the community,” says Judy Stahl, AMTA President. “Volunteering and giving to the community are things our association and our members care about.”
At each event, 2,000–4,000 walkers cover 60 miles in 3 days and camp for 2 nights to raise money for a disease that affects millions of women worldwide. “This has very special meaning for me,” says Stahl. “As a breast cancer survivor and the mother of a daughter, I am proud that we have been asked to play an important role in bringing public attention to the need to find a cure for breast cancer. As a massage therapist, I am moved by the opportunity to serve that this will give all of our members who participate. I hope our members will celebrate this partnership until we can all celebrate the cure.”

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure®
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested more than $1.3 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
