To complement the MASSAGE Magazine article, “Aromatherapy for the Recall, Release and Integration of Body Memory,” by Jonathan A. Tripodi and Caryl Anne, in the February 2013 issue. Article summary: The body is innately designed to transform body memory, or the energy of past experiences that is actively suppressed in the body. The body seeks to recall the chaotic energy from the past, release it, process and learn from it, in order for the entire person to grow and return to balance or homeostasis.

Aromatherapy, the therapeutic use of plant-derived aromatic essential oils or other scents, promotes physical, emotional and psychological well-being and is effective in addressing body memory.

Painful and stressful memories emanate a low vibration. Further, suppressed emotion is theorized to take the form of a virus. Chinese acupuncturists declare that we have hundreds of viral entities that lie dormant in the body, in particular along the spine.

According to Gary Young, founder of Young Living Oils, plant and flower essences have strong antiviral properties and possess a high rate of vibration. When helping others clear body memory and suppressed emotion, essential oils placed along the spine chemically nuke and vibrationally dispel emotionally derived, viral entities.

A client came to her body memory recall healing session expressly nervous and fearful. She didn’t feel she had the courage to face what was inside and go through the process of remembering and releasing past trauma. The therapist applied geranium to her feet, an aroma that helps release negative memories, and lavender to her neck and shoulders. He encouraged her to take five deep breathes.

The client’s upper body relaxed from inhaling the soothing aroma of lavender. The therapist then gently placed his hand underneath the back of her heart. She relaxed even more and began to recall a trauma she had experienced as a child.
