Dallas Fort Worth, Texas — Jul 17, 2012: It’s summer — the time of year when birds sing, flowers bloom and golf balls fly!
And, according to Craig Rosengarden, publisher of Avidgolfer magazine, it’s also an ideal time for a massage.
“When you play golf, parts of your body get overworked or stressed, just like with any other sport. I try to get a massage at least once a week — when I’m not traveling — to help alleviate pain, relieve stress and keep me refreshed,” said Rosengarden.
Rosengarden is president of Avid Media Ventures Inc., which publishes Avidgolfer magazine, a trade publication serving five markets. His company also operates iDealGolfer.com, a website that offers golfers daily deals in seven markets. An avid golfer himself, Rosengarden founded the company 15 years ago because he loved the game.
“I’ve always loved golf and there wasn’t a good golf publication in our market. Of course, I spent more time playing golf then,” Rosengarden said with a laugh. “Now, I spend a lot of time working on the business, just like everyone else who runs a company this size — but I still play golf as much as I can.”
An extremely active person, Rosengarden adds that he’s always enjoyed a wide variety of sports — golf, basketball, lacrosse and football.
“I have terrible hamstrings. I played a lot of sports in my youth, and they’ve really taken a toll on my body,” explained Rosengarden. “I started getting massages about 10 years ago to work on the parts of my body that hurt and to relieve stress. I can’t imagine life without massage now — getting a massage enables me to walk again after I play basketball with the kids. I’m 48 years old, I have two teenage sons, and I play basketball up to three times per week with guys half my age. Without massage, I wouldn’t be able to keep up with them.”
People can get massages in a wide variety of locations. Country clubs, gyms, health and wellness centers and spas often have massage services. In addition, there are businesses that specialize in massage.
“Just like exercise or any other part of your health routine, massage therapy works best when you do it regularly. When selecting a place for a massage, find one that is convenient and affordable for you, so you can get a massage on a regular basis,” said Rachel Shepard of Massage Envy Colleyville.
