SAN DIEGO — Bellus Academy, a beauty and wellness education institution, hosted an exclusive beauty workshop complete with tutorials highlighting 2015 trends in hair styling, makeup application and nail artistry. Teaming up with the San Diego Style Bloggers group, Bellus Academy hosted beauty, fashion and lifestyle bloggers at its Poway, California, campus.
“We wanted to display the expertise and hands-on experience offered at Bellus Academy in an interactive and unique way,” Bellus Academy President Lynelle Lynch said. “By inviting local beauty bloggers, we were able to pass along professionally-led tutorials and industry trends to online influencers and reach a wider audience.”
Three tutorials were presented, with a focus on hair styling, makeup and nail artistry, as well as an open floor for one-on-one questions and answer sessions and photos.
Erik Thrane, a Bellus Academy educator, opened the workshop with two different hair demonstrations. His two featured styles, a high-volume ponytail and an evening chignon bun, incorporated on-trend ethereal braids to create effortlessly chic looks for an everyday wear.
Marina Estrella, a Bellus Academy alumna and freelance makeup artist, showcased a fall makeup look with a brown, smoky eye and a deep, red lip. Her tutorial included tips on the eye makeup brush use and stroke technique required to achieve the proper look for your eye shape. For lips, she demonstrated how to mix lipstick colors to create a unique shade to fit any skin tone.
The final tutorial focused on the professional rise in nail artistry. Ally Caravero, a current Bellus Academy student, demonstrated five different nail art styles, including 3D elements, glitter and intricate line details. An integral part of her tutorial included explaining the different mediums of polish, such as CND Shellac, Minx and acrylic paint to apply details.
All of the looks showcased offered easy-to-follow instructions that can be easily replicated at home.
