This Month’s Features on Life Love & Health
Women’s Health Foundation & Kimberly-Clark: Poised for Pelvic Health
In “Poise,” we hear from Linda Michael, an outspoken advocate for the pelvic floor therapy program at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Linda found this treatment after enduring 28 years of urinary, vaginal and musculoskeletal pain following a difficult childbirth. Thanks to her tireless public awareness work for pelvic health, Linda was awarded the Women’s Health Foundation’s first annual Passion Award, underwritten by Kimberly-Clark Corporation, whose Poise brand of absorbent pads helps millions of women live with urinary incontinence.
American Pain Foundation: Pain Awareness Month
September is “Pain Awareness Month,” and three advocates for the American Pain Foundation describe their commitment to helping those who suffer from chronic pain. Lois Pike, Vicky Jerdee and Glenda Dykstra speak about the need for support groups, educational initiatives and passionate advocates to make sure that people living with pain have a voice and are taken seriously by the medical profession.
Life’s Golden Ticket
What is it about a near-death experience that makes people come alive? In “Seeing the Light,” Brendon Burchard, now a leadership speaker, describes that horrible, wonderful moment 12 years ago, when he climbed out of a car wreck, saw the moonlight and realized that he still had another chance. In his inspirational novel Life’s Golden Ticket, he describes journeying through an imaginary amusement park to discover one’s potential.
Are We Hungry Yet?
America’s overweight epidemic has spawned a thriving weight loss industry, but there could be an easier way than diet books and exercise equipment for keeping off the pounds. In “Indian Diet,” Life Love & Health’s resident physician Dr. Anne Meneghetti examines how people in India know when it’s mealtime: which nostril are you breathing through? If that sounds way too simple, consider that fewer Indians are overweight…
