$1,000 tuition discount for unemployed workers

Boulder, Colorado (PRWEB) Nov. 22, 2011 — The Boulder College of Massage Therapy (BCMT) has announced the “Make Your Own Job” Program, a special tuition rate for registrants who have received unemployment benefits at any time over the last 24 months.

Coupled with financial aid, this program reduces tuition costs by $1,000 and enables a student to become a certified massage therapist in just nine months, often without incurring any out-of-pocket tuition expenses.

BCMT has developed this program for ambitious workers who are no longer willing to wait for the right job to come along. For those resolved to gain control of their future, BCMT can provide a new skill set and get them working again–making good money, working on their own schedule and feeling the satisfaction of providing a vital service to their clients–in as little as nine months.

According to Dirk McCuistion, vice president of business operations at Boulder College of Massage Therapy, massage therapy produces a wide range of positive benefits including relief from aches and pains, muscle tension, numbness and poor circulation. In addition, it can break up scar tissue, increase range of motion, diminish anxiety and even bolster immune systems compromised by stressors like panic attacks and PTSD. It is a key element in a well-rounded health and wellness regimen.

Angie Rio, a recent graduate of BCMT, has found that a career in massage therapy is both financially rewarding and personally satisfying. “To see someone go from hunched over and creaky to supple and limber in just an hour session is what gets me up every morning. I’m really making a difference in the quality of life for so many people. And I make a nice living doing it.” She has no plans to look back. “I control my destiny now. I’m in charge of my practice, my schedule and my pay–not someone else. I like that.”

Overall, massage can help people live healthy, productive lives. By offering a discount to those who are out of work, BCMT hopes to help jobseekers build successful, meaningful careers and, at the same time, put the country back on track.

Registration for the Winter Quarter closes on Dec. 22, 2011. For more information, students can visit www.bcmt.org/vets or reach the admissions department at: (303) 530-5933.
