Massage Envy proudly announces the launch of the nationwide Massage for the Cure initiative with Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The effort will generate breast cancer awareness and raise funds for education, screening and treatment of breast cancer while also providing people with the health benefits of massage therapy.

Massage Envy’s Massage for the Cure event will take place nationwide Tuesday, September 15, 2009. During this one-day event, Massage Envy clinics will offer $35 one-hour therapeutic massage sessions – with $10 going directly to local Susan G. Komen for the Cure chapters. Additional donations will also be accepted from now until September 15, 2009.

“Nationally, our goal is to raise $500,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure,” says Lance O’Pry, Dallas Fort Worth regional developer for Massage Envy, the leading provider of massage therapy in the U.S. “All of our 26 Dallas Fort Worth based owners, staff and therapists are looking forward to Massage for the Cure and the opportunity to give back to the community that has allowed us to thrive during a period of economic hardship for many people. And, this event is even more special for us here in Dallas Fort Worth since Susan G. Komen for the Cure is headquartered in Dallas.”

All donations will stay within the Susan G. Komen local chapters, benefiting breast cancer awareness in Massage Envy communities. Massage for the Cure event details are available at www.MassageEnvy.com.

Appointments and reservations for the Massage for the Cure event can be made beginning August 15, 2009 at any Massage Envy clinic in the nation. To find the closest Massage Envy go to www.MassageEnvy.com.

Since Massage for the Cure’s inception in 2005, Massage Envy has raised over $800,000 to support breast cancer research for regional chapters of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Susan G. Komen for the Cure funds breast cancer education, screening and treatment initiatives.

This year alone, more than 180,000 women and men in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will lose their lives to the disease. A woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes and the disease claims another life every 13 minutes.

At Massage Envy, an introductory one-hour massage session (a 50-minute massage and time for consultation and dressing) is just $39.
