New Courses will offer nondegree seeking certificate programs, review courses and continuing education classes

MIAMI, Jan. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Dade Medical College will officially introduce its new School of Continuing Education on Jan. 22. This new division will begin offering noncredit courses for students and working professionals. These courses will include state board exam reviews, continuing education unit credits and certificate programs. Class hours will be flexible, including both weekday and weekend (Saturday) course offerings.

Leading the school will be Jorge A. Alvarez, as dean of the School of Continuing Education. Alvarez currently serves as the campus director for Dade Medical College’s Miami, Florida, campus. Alvarez earned dual master degrees in business and health care administration from the University of Miami. He is currently completing a doctoral program in business management and finance at Nova Southeastern University.

The first two continuing education certificate courses available will be EKG and Phlebotomy at the Miami Campus. In the near future, the School of Continuing Education will begin offering Continuing Education Unit courses (CEUs) for massage therapy and several review courses for state board exams including the ARDMS, ARRT, MBLEX, NCBTMB and NCLEX.
