The Day Spa Association and the International Medical Spa Association Offer Much Needed Support

Union City, NJ The Day Spa Association and the International Medical Spa Association have been following the devastation that has been ravaging the Midwest with floods and the northern part of California with fires over the past few months. “As a major industry support organization, we are extremely concerned about our members, but also for all spas in these areas, their livelihood and those of their employees,” says Hannelore Leavy, Executive Director of the DSA and IMSA. Both organizations’ websites have opened up the “Members Only Forums” on their respective websites and to give everyone access to post messages, request for assistance and to potentially also offer much needed assistance.

In addition, a major initiative has been started to encourage product companies and distributors to see how they may be of help to those facilities who need to rebuild and replace items that may have been lost. Hannelore Leavy adds, “This will be very important, so that these spas will be able to reopen and to not only serve their existing customers in these days of badly needed spa services, yet also to help those who have come to the areas to help each community. We know that FEMA workers, fire and rescue teams as well as other volunteers need a place to be nurtured, relax and get a bit of a rest before going out on the limb again.”

So far, four of Day Spa Association and International Medical Spa Association manufacturer and supplier service members have already committed. We are pleased to announce that, New Life Systems/Scrip Company, Telli Industries, Belvedere USA and The Strawberry Hill Group have already signed on to help those in need. More companies and support groups are hopefully on their way. Spas in the affected area are encouraged to contact these individual companies to see how they can lend a helping hand. They need to be prepared to document their need for assistance, such as reports to the insurance carrier, pictures of the facility showing the damages and other documents our partners will need.

“The DSA and IMSA are also prepared to work with these members to make it easier for them to meet their annual membership fee in either of our trade organizations”, emphasizes Ms. Leavy. “Members should contact our association to let us know how we can assist them”. Leavy encourages everyone to please take advantage of the associations’ online industry forums to post their special needs.

SPAcare: Unifying the professional spa industry to help one another is one of the major goals of both, The Day Spa Association and the International Medical Spa Association. Their non-profit arm SPAcare, Inc. at is standing by to post stories on how everyone is dealing with these situations. “We extend our open hands to everyone in need. Don’t hesitate to reach out to them!”, says Monique Iacobacci, Executive Director of SPAcare Inc.
