Missouri City entrepreneur joins one of America’s fastest-growing franchises to help area customers discover health and wellness
HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – (Jan. 6, 2011) – Elements Therapeutic Massage, one of the fastest-growing franchises in America, has opened its 75th studio, and franchise owner Ashley Wills has fulfilled a life-long dream of owning her own business with the newest location in Missouri City, Texas.
The holidays have been happy for the busy wife and mother of two who opened her doors during one of the busiest seasons for the growing massage industry. Following a national trend, the service was an ideal answer for area customers looking to give and to receive the perfect gift of therapeutic massage.
With six certified massage therapists and two receptionists on staff, Missouri City residents are now experiencing the benefits to their health and wellness with Elements’ deep-tissue massage, Swedish massage, hot stone massage, sports massage and more. Wills calls it a business that fits her passion as well.
“I already personally and medically knew the benefit of massage,” Wills says. Having earned a degree in health and kinesiology from Texas A&M University, she pursued a career in pharmaceutical sales, where modern medicine has made great advances in treating and healing ailments. But her desire to be in business for herself with an interest in a holistic approach to health guided her towards Elements.
“Stress was the main reason I sought out massage,” Wills explains. “I sold cardiovascular drugs for people with high blood pressure. But one of the ways to decrease high blood pressure is to decrease stress. And more consumers are seeking massage therapy to address stress.”
A September study by the National Institutes of Health found that even a single massage has positive biological effects, including lowering levels of stress hormones, boosting the immune system and increasing a hormone associated with contentment. And the 75th franchise in Missouri City is proof that consumers are turning toward therapeutic massage in growing numbers across the country.
Ranked one of the fastest-growing franchises in 2010 by Franchise Times magazine, Elements has generated strong growth even in a down economy with average studio revenues growing 27 percent in 2009 compared to the prior year, and has been recognized for making therapeutic massage more accessible and affordable to a growing customer base.*
Wills says it was a win-win to join Elements and give back to the health of her community while having the support of a national chain.
“Joining Elements didn’t feel like a business deal,” she says. “It is a company that’s truly about wellness from the ground up. It was founded by an actual massage therapist.”
That caring attitude has helped shape her approach of tailoring her services to individual clients and educating them on the benefits of massage.
“Looking at it from a client’s perspective, we specialize in massage. We don’t just fill an opening on the books. We match the client with the right therapist for the right massage,” Wills explains. “When they come in the door, they have some sort of problem. And when they leave, we want to know that we’ve done something to make that issue better for them.”
