Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) uses gentle, rhythmic movements to safely stretch your muscles and fascia. What is unique about AIS is the length of time involved with each and every stretch. AIS uses a 2-second rule for every stretch. Active muscle contractions create a safe and optimal environment for flexibility gains and healing. Repetition remodels tissue and creates a “pumping” action, which increases circulation to the targeted tissues. AIS prepares you and your clients for any activity – from everyday tasks to the rigors of athletics. Prevent injuries and promote faster recovery with a set of dynamic stretching protocols. In this basic-level class you will learn how to stretch yourself, thereby gaining a better understanding of what each stretch should feel like. You will learn to evaluate your own range and movement potential. This knowledge will enable you to build a home stretching program for your clients as well as give you the skills to instruct your clients in their own self-care. Course content is geared towards healthcare and fitness professionals. Lower Body: Learn how to stretch your low back, hips, knees and calves. These stretches are done mostly lying down. Upper Body: Learn how to stretch your shoulders, neck and spine. These stretches are done seated and standing.
