This 3-day event will teach both Advanced Trigger Point and Fibromyalgia. You can sign up for one or both classes. Trigger-point therapy is a precise therapeutic approach for treating acute and chronic pain that builds up inside muscle tissue. This course will teach therapists the method for recognizing, treating and dissolving trigger points all over the body. It will also incorporate teaching all of the musculoskeletal conditions in the upper and lower extremity that are pertinent to a massage therapist. The therapist will understand and learn to recognize each condition, its symptoms, referred pain patterns and a systematic approach for resolving the conditions using trigger-point therapy. With the completion of this course each therapist will understand how to manually manipulate trigger points to dissolve them or lessen their irritation in the muscle tissue of their clients. This method incorporates the teachings of Janet Travell, M.D. This course includes both hands-on and lecture. The Fibromyalgia and CMPS course is designed to provide students with a good working knowledge of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome. All aspects of these syndromes will be explored and the student will have a specific treatment protocol for working on patients that present with either syndrome. The latest research will be presented and sent home with each student. Hands-on application will be done including specific protocols for working on Fibromyalgia vs. Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome. This class is a must for all therapists wishing to understand Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome. Dr. Miller specializes in treating patients in her offices with these syndromes and is a lecturer and publisher in this field. Dr. Miller was diagnosed with fibromyalgia several years ago and has taken a special interest in taking care of patients who suffer from both syndromes.
