Clinical Trigger-Point Therapy: Shoulders & Upper Extremities

October 15, 2016 @ 9:00 am - October 16, 2016 @ 1:00 pm

$220

Myofascial Pain Syndromes (MPS) affect muscles, joints and skeletal structures, leading to pain and loss of function and movement. The myofascial trigger point is the physical entity by which MPS is identified. Treatment involves inactivating myofascial trigger points, correcting biomechanical and postural dysfunction and restoring normal movement patterns. This two-day workshop is presented to teach the techniques of trigger-point identification, effective manual techniques of inactivation of trigger points and restoration of function as they relate to the shoulders and upper extremity regions. The workshop consists of an introductory lecture and demonstration, followed by supervised hands-on practice in small groups. This is a training program with immediate clinical applicability upon completion. The therapist will learn to understand the art of a release technique that enables the practitioner to minimize the discomfort associated with trigger-point therapy while still providing the most effective client care. Thus avoiding overtreatment of a given trigger point, causing undue discomfort and sometimes bruising.
