Overland Park, KS. The eighth annual meeting of the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) was held in Baltimore, Maryland, with 88 representatives from state licensing boards and agencies, along with businesses and professional associations in attendance.
The delegate assembly, comprised of FSMTB member boards, re-elected Karen Armstrong, as well as elected Anthony Jusevitch, executive director of the Florida Board of Massage Therapy, to serve three-year terms on the FSMTB board of directors.
Dixie Wall, the former chair of the California Massage Therapy Council, resigned from the FSMTB board of directors with two years remaining and Linda Lyter, executive director of the West Virginia Massage Therapy Licensure Board was elected to complete the remaining two years of Wall’s term.
Dennis Beye, chair of the Arizona Board of Massage Therapy, was elected to serve as president; Karen Armstrong, former chair of the Michigan Board of Massage Therapy, as vice president; and Lance Gilliland, vice chair of the Alabama Board of Massage Therapy as treasurer. Jaime Huffman, former chair of the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy, will serve as the immediate past president.
The federation’s mission is to support its member boards in their work to ensure that the practice of massage therapy is provided to the public in a safe and effective manner.
