Each year, the Florida Chiropractic Association (FCA) chooses a massage therapist from the state as its LMT of the Year. The 2010 award recipient is Teresa M. Matthews of Jacksonville.

Matthews operates a massage practice that serves primarily athletes of all ages and skill levels, from high school, to weekend warriors, to professionals. She is also a certified personal fitness trainer, and the owner and operator of the Arlington School of Massage and Personal Training in Jacksonville. She has more than 30 years of experience in the fitness industry.

“I have supported the chiropractic profession as a consumer, since my early days as a world-champion athlete,” Matthews said. “In training, competition and recovery from competition, the value of that science was and is effective and immediate.”

Today, she cross-refers with the leading chiropractic physicians in her area, and says she enjoys working side by side with chiropractors at local sporting events.

“Receiving the Massage Therapist of the Year Award from the FCA is such an honor,” Matthews said. “The chiropractic profession has been a part of my health and wellness training and beliefs for as long as I can remember. I will continue to encourage health-care providers, especially licensed massage therapists, to maintain a professional compliment in working together.”
