A recent article in the New York Times said there are a lot of spas across the country that are cutting costs because of the current economic slowdown.
We took a quick peek around the Seattle area and found a few great deals. Here’s a quick recap of a few of them:
In downtown Seattle, the Hotel 1000 has a happy hour, where you can get a polish change manicure for $16 and a polish change pedicure for $32.
The Oasis Nail & Hair Salon in Bothell offers coupons for manicures and pedicures. You can download coupons here.
And there’s a cool little spa in Belltown called Spa Noir, where you can get discounted treatments on the last Tuesday of each month.
Owner Jessica Norton says she knows that times can be financially tough for some people, so she created the super Tuesday deal.
“I think it’s a fun day that any budget, anybody with limited funds, college students, anything, can afford to come treat themselves,” she said.
They say to make sure you call in plenty of time because they get very busy.
And now let’s talk about what could be the best pampering-on-a-budget deal out there.
It’s a school called the Cortiva Institute, a massage school in the south Lake Union area. The national school has more than 300 students at the Seattle campus.
The students have to take several hundred hours of course work before they can be licensed by the state.
And this is where your great pampering deal comes in. You can get a one-hour massage from a student for $30.
“It’s part of our education program, actually. When the students are in clinic, it’s part of what’s required to be licensed. In part, there’s a state requirement that says you need a certain number of clinical practice hours. And in part, we know that what makes good massage therapists is doing a lot of massage,” said Cortiva President Dina Boon.
Cortiva Institute offers the one hour massages during morning and evenings on every day but Sunday. Click here for more information.
