She received the AMTA’s National Distinguished Service Award at the American Massage Therapy Association National Convention held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in August.
The award is selected by the AMTA’s National President, Jeff Smoot, and approved by its executive committee. Its purpose is to openly honor individuals who have contributed to the massage profession in an outstanding manner and to acknowledge diligent volunteerism done in an altruistic manner.
“We are very proud to have Judith on the Performance Health education team and truly appreciate her devotion to our profession,” stated Lynda Solien-Wolfe, Vice President, Massage & Spa, Performance Health. “She sets a high bar for herself, which result in higher industry standards that benefit us all. Thank you, Judith!”
DeLany is the founder and director of the International Academy of NeuroMuscular Therapies (NMT), a certifying body that sets standards for the training of healthcare practitioners in the use of NMT. She is also the Director of the NMT Center, an educational/training organization that produces more than 80 NMT events nationwide and internationally each year for the healthcare industry.
As an internationally recognized speaker on such topics as chronic pain and myofascial dysfunction, DeLany has served as a presenter or keynote speaker at numerous conventions and conferences in various fields of medicine. She is a published author and currently serves as Associate Editor for Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies in addition to being a contributing writer to numerous publications.
“It is an amazing honor to have a spotlight placed on my life work and gratifying to realize that there are those who believe it has made a significant impact,” stated DeLany. “All the same, I am just a small piece in the big picture. I wholeheartedly share this with the sponsors, office and teaching staff, chapters, companies, and host of others who have supported my projects and educational venues for three decades. Together, with no doubt, we have made a difference.”
