The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) presented check symbolizing the $547,000 the association has donated to the Massage Therapy Foundation over the past year.

During the opening session of the AMTA’s recent national convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota, AMTA President Kathleen Miller-Read presented foundation President Ruth Werner with the check.

“As the primary benefactor for the foundation, AMTA is proud of its in-kind and direct monetary support for the day-to-day operations of the foundation,” said Miller-Read.

AMTA supports the Foundation to ensure that massage therapy education and practice are evidence-informed and to help support the foundation’s efforts to conduct significant research on the use, safety and effects of therapeutic massage, according to an AMTA press release.

The Massage Therapy Foundation is a 501(c)3 public charity, with a mission to advance the knowledge and practice of massage by supporting scientific research, education, and community service.
