The nation’s largest massage franchise contributed $20,000 to massage-therapy research in June.

Massage Envy Ltd., LLC., which operates 420 clinics in 36 states and employs more than 8,000 massage therapists, presented the check to Massage Therapy Foundation President Diana Thompson and Vice-President Ruth Werner at the American Massage Therapy Association Washington Chapter Conference.

“The donation will support foundation grants awarded to researchers who strive to advance the understanding of specific therapeutic applications of massage, public perceptions and attitudes toward massage therapy, and the role of massage therapy in health care delivery,” according to a Massage Envy press release.

The Massage Therapy Foundation advances the knowledge and practice of massage therapy by supporting scientific research, education and community service.
