Houston, Texas (July 24, 2012): In an effort to provide opportunities to those who wish to pursue a career in massage therapy but are limited by a lack of funds, Massage Heights locations in the Houston and Dallas markets have inaugurated a new scholarship program in conjunction with the Texas School of Massage.

J.D. Busch, Massage Heights’ Houston and Dallas Regional Developer, explains, “In the case of massage therapists, the demand far exceeds the supply. And with so many people looking for work these days, we thought that it only made sense to offer deserving individuals the chance to get back into the work force with a dynamic new career. Once they receive their license as a massage therapist, jobs will be waiting for them. It is good for them and great for the industry.”

The value of each scholarship is approximately $5000, according to Dr. James Wray of the Texas School of Massage. Depending upon the class schedule chosen, the course of study can be completed in six months to one year.

“The best candidates for a career in massage therapy are people who enjoy helping others and who are genuinely empathetic,” Dr. Wray says. “In many cases, we find that individuals who have considered working in the medical community are well suited to massage therapy,” Dr. Wray adds, “because this career path gives them the opportunity to serve people, both by providing relief from discomfort and by enhancing their clients’ general well-being.”
