Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (March 25, 2011): The Touch Research Institute conducts groundbreaking research into massage therapy for various client populations. MASSAGE Magazine today announced its support, as a financial donor, to the Touch Research Institute (TRI).

The donation from MASSAGE Magazine is earmarked for research in the Department of Pediatrics.

“I am pleased to acknowledge MASSAGE Magazine Inc. for its generous donation of $500 in support of the Touch Research Support fund at the Department of Pediatrics,” wrote TRI Advancement Director Cathy Ruiz de Quevedo, in a letter to MASSAGE Magazine. “Your support will help the Touch Research Institute to continue its important research, which produces fascinating results and enhancement to health care. We are extremely proud of the wonderful work being conducted by Dr. Tiffany Field and her dedicated staff.”

TRI (http://www6.miami.edu/touch-research) was established in 1992 by Director Tiffany Field, Ph.D., at the University of Miami School of Medicine via a start-up grant from Johnson & Johnson. It was the first center in the world devoted solely to the study of touch and its application in science and medicine. Research efforts that began in 1982 and continue today have shown that touch therapy has numerous beneficial effects on health and well-being.
