MASSAGE Magazine and its editor in chief, Karen Menehan, will be recognized at this year’s World Massage Festival and Massage Therapy Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, Nevada. Menehan will be inducted into the hall of fame on Aug. 19, while the magazine will receive the 2012 Media of the Year Award at the festival on Aug. 20.
Menehan has served in the editorial department of MASSAGE Magazine as assistant editor, managing editor, editor and editor in chief, for a combined total of 19 years. She oversees the magazine’s print editorial content, writes news items for the magazine’s website (www.MASSAGEmag.com), communicates with readers, networks with massage industry leaders, engages in social networking, attends industry events, hosts webinars, and researches and writes feature stories and news articles for the print magazine.
Previously, she freelanced for The Sacramento Bee newspaper, On The Wing Magazine, IMAGINE Magazine, The Lance Armstrong Foundation and other publications, and has also held positions in marketing and advertising sales. She has taken hands-on classes in massage therapy, reflexology and reiki. In her free time, she enjoys hiking; working out; spending time with family, friends and her poodle; theater; reading; cooking; and meditating.
“In the many years I have been at the helm of MASSAGE Magazine’s editorial department, I have been inspired by the dedication and heart embodied by massage therapists, and gratified to have had the opportunity to report on all the developments in the massage profession,” said Menehan, who first joined the publication in 1994. “I am grateful and honored to be inducted into the World Massage Festival’s Massage Therapy Hall of Fame and look forward to continuing to provide information, education and inspiration to the massage therapists who are part of the MASSAGE Magazine community.”
