A massage school in North Carolina is meeting the economic crisis head-on by offering all its students who in enroll in 2009 a $1,500 scholarship.

“At the Center for Massage & Natural Health, we are doing our part to help stimulate the economy and make education more affordable to everyone being affected by this weak economy,” school Owner and President Peggy M. Huff told MASSAGE Magazine. “By offering this special scholarship, we hope to provide the means for those who might need the additional financial assistance and make it possible for them to begin in a new and rewarding career.”

The Center for Massage & Natural Health is located in Weaverville and has been in operation since 1998. Huff said she anticipates 100 students will receive the scholarship.

The school’s Admissions Specialist Rebecca Weems said she hopes other massage schools follow in the center’s example “of how we can all help each other during these tough economic times.”
