The Alliance for Massage Therapy Education (AFMTE) issued a clarification to a press release it distributed this week. MASSAGE Magazine published the article, “Alliance For Massage Therapy Education Announces New Standards for Massage Teachers” on Sept. 14.

“We want to clarify that the Core Competencies for Massage Therapy Teachers is a working document and not the final document,” an AFMTE representative told MASSAGE Magazine. “We want public feedback before we finalize it. We encourage massage educators, school owners and massage therapists to make their voices heard.

We are also asking for support from the major stakeholders of the concept of core competencies for massage therapy teachers, and to endorse the standards once we have incorporated the public feedback.”
