Massage therapists can model self-care for their clients by booking a massage session on Sept. 15 for just $35.

The promotion is part of Massage Envy’s partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization working to find a cure for breast cancer. Massage Envy is the nation’s largest franchise company, offering massage and spa therapies.

All 590 Massage Envy clinics in 40 states will participate in the event. On that day, one-hour therapeutic massage sessions will be available for $35, with $10 from each massage being donated directly to the local affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Additional donations will also be accepted and all proceeds collected will go directly into the local community.

On Aug. 21, MASSAGE Magazine reported on new research showing massage therapy helps breast cancer patients relax. In other research, aromatherapy massage was shown to reduce anxiety in women with breast cancer; and massage reduced nausea in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
