Portland, Oregon—The American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) honored Shawn Hallum as the Outstanding Graduate for 2014 at the Distance Education and Training Council’s (DETC) 88th Annual Conference on April 8, 2014, in Hammock Beach, Florida.

 

Hallum enrolled in the ACHS Certificate in Aromatherapy program in 2005. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Sports Management, Hallum continued his education at ACHS and became the first student enrolled in the College’s Master of Science in Complementary Medicine program in 2008. Hallum has utilized his holistic health education in a number of professional roles, including massage technician, personal trainer, reiki practitioner, current Director of Spa for the Westin Maui Resort & Spa, and now as a valued member of the ACHS faculty (see https://www.achs.edu/shawn-hallum-ms-bs).

“I am incredibly honored to have been acknowledged as the 2014 Outstanding Graduate for ACHS,” says Hallum. “My academic journey has been filled with many revelations about myself, the people I work with, our global community, and the precious natural resources which hold the key to longer, healthier lives for all of us. I have been further gifted with an opportunity to teach at the College and share my passion and all that I’ve learned with others.”
