Chicago, Illinois–On August 12, 2009, Mike Hovi, Program Director of The Soma Institute, was appointed President of the American Massage Therapy Association, Illinois Chapter.

Hovi formally served as the First Vice President, and he was appointed after the President’s resignation.

“In the end, I joined the AMTA because I want to make a difference in my profession,” said Hovi. “I got on the Board of Directors because I saw an opportunity to have a greater impact on improving the Profession of Massage Therapy. I became President because I want to be at the forefront of making a difference in this profession that is long-lasting and enduring.”
