NEW YORK – Natural Resources Spa Consulting, Inc. (NRi), a leader in the international luxury resort spa, club and wellness industries, announces the launching of an International Medical & Wellness Division.
Kelly Costa and Karen Erickson bring more than 35 years of combined experience in the operation and development of spas and medical spas. They will work closely with Kimberley Matheson Shedrick, NRi President, to further the division’s growth and business development.

Ms. Costa brings more than 20 years of experience in the spa industry to NRi. A pioneer in the luxury medical spa industry, she was the first in the industry to develop programs in spas to support those living with disease. Ms. Costa helped develop prestigious spas, such as Shade MedSpa, Replenish MedSpa, The California Institute of Skin and Beauty, Glow MD Skincare, Grant Street Medical Spa and the Great Lakes Plastic Surgery Center. In addition, she served as Spa Director for The SK Sanctuary La Jolla, The Coronado Island Marriott Resort, and Le Meridien Coronado Clarins Institute.
Ms. Erickson’s expertise encompasses all stages of spa development for new and existing properties. A certified Image Designer, Trainer and Makeup Artist, Ms. Erickson’s spa career began in 1993, when she appointed Director of the flagship Spa Nordstrom in San Francisco. Career advancement came quickly during the next few years as she was named Nordstrom’s national Corporate Spa Buyer and Trainer. She spent the last decade opening and managing top tier spas, such as The Ritz Carlton Resort Spa in Half Moon Bay, Calif., Spa Medica medical spa at PRO Sports Club, located in Bellevue, Wash., and the award-winning Spa Agio in Redmond, Wash.
Ms. Costa and Ms. Erickson’s responsibilities will include strengthening operational capabilities globally, and establishing strategies, programs and practices that bring medical professionals and responsible, results oriented treatments into a luxurious spa environment.
