Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois (June 15, 2012) – The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) released its annual Call for Candidates for the Board of Directors earlier today. Communications are being sent to certificants via email, and Candidate Applications are available on the website – www.ncbtmb.org.

NCBTMB annually elects members to the Board of Directors by a vote of the certificants in good standing as of July 1 of the current election year. This year there are two positions open for election, each with a 4-year term that begins at the Board’s annual meeting in 2013. To apply as a candidate for election to the Board of Directors, you must complete and submit NCBTMB’s Candidate Application. Applications must be received by July 15, 2012.

The positions are open to certificants who are: practitioners of therapeutic massage and/or bodywork; researchers; educators; school owners/ administrators; or individuals who may contribute professionally to the field of therapeutic massage/bodywork through their work with government regulatory agencies or licensure boards.

To be considered for a certificant member of the Board, an applicant must:

1) Be credentialed by NCBTMB for a minimum of three years

2) Have a minimum of five years’ experience in the profession of therapeutic massage/bodywork

3) Agree to abide by NCBTMB’s Conflict of Interest Policy, Code of Conduct for Volunteers and other agreements included in the Candidate Application packet

4) Commit to the time and travel necessary to be a fully participating member of the Board including attendance at meetings, serving as a liaison to committees and travel on behalf of the Board
