The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) will mark 15 years at an anniversary celebration May 30, the board announced today. The event will take place in Washington D.C. following the board of directors’ second-quarter meeting.
The NCBTMB provides a massage certification exam, The National Certification Exam for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, which is used by some states for licensure or other credentialing; the exam may also be taken independently of state law.
“NCBTMB is taking this time to celebrate 15 years of advancing the profession and helping build public trust in a field that is rapidly becoming an accepted component of our nation’s wellness,” stated Donna Feeley, NCBTMB chair.
The event will recognize the original founders, past board chairs, volunteers and key contributors who have demonstrated their continued commitment to the organization and the industry it serves, stated an NCBTMB press release. “The celebration will honor the history of massage therapy practices from around the world, depicting the unique cultural contributions to the practice of massage therapy.”
Expected attendees include state board officials; NCBTMB founders, past board chairs and board of directors; AMTA representatives; massage therapy schools and students; industry leaders; certificants and practitioners.
