Santa Barbara, California-based health practitioner and educator Kathy Gruver has released her first book, The Alternative Medicine Cabinet. This 141-page book, published by Infinity Publishing, is a must-have for anyone seeking to expand their knowledge of natural health and mind-body medicine, written in an easy to understand and informative way.
The Alternative Medicine Cabinet covers a wide range of modalities, such as massage techniques, homeopathics and Bach Flower Essences, and also provides natural solutions for common ailments like stress, back pain, sleep issues and more serious conditions, such as depression and cancer. There are also insightful tips for corporate health and wellness.
Gruver has more than two decades and more than 10,000 hours of hands-on experience in medical massage and natural health. She has been a featured expert in dozens of publications including First for Women, Discover, SB Fitness and The Calgary Sun, and has been a guest on more than 30 radio shows discussing such topics as the emotional components of back pain, healthy pregnancy, mind-body medicine, reiki and other ways to reduces stress and pain. She has authored more than 50 articles related to health and wellness for such publications as Pacific Coast Business Times, MASSAGE Magazine, Corporate Wellness Magazine and Big Blend Magazine.
She has earned her master’s degree in natural health as a traditional naturopath and is pursuing her docotrate degree. Her highly successful massage practice in Santa Barbara specializes in medical massage, natural health counseling, reiki, pre-natal massage and birth assisting. She has also recently released an instructional massage DVD, Therapeutic Massage at Home; Learn to Rub People the RIGHT Way! She facilitates lectures and workshops on alternative medicine and served on the faculty at Santa Barbara Business College. Her business, Healing Circle Massage, was selected as a “Best Practice” by MASSAGE Magazine two years in a row.
